HAM Radio Station

At the Indian Red Cross Society, Rajkot we are committed to ensuring that no disaster or emergency leaves communities disconnected. Our HAM Radio Station, operated under the guidelines of the Amateur Radio Service, serves as a vital communication link when all conventional systems fail.

Stay Connected When It Matters Most

HAM Radio, also known as Amateur Radio Service, plays a vital role in emergency and disaster communication when all other systems fail. It is a volunteer-driven, non-commercial radio service that enables individuals to establish wireless communication networks, ensuring critical connectivity during crises.

Why HAM Radio?

During natural disasters, wars, or large-scale power and network outages, conventional communication channels may collapse. In such times, HAM Radio becomes a lifeline—providing reliable communication for relief efforts and connecting affected communities.

Licensing & Regulation

Operating a HAM Radio station in India requires an official licence issued under the Amateur Service Rules. No person may establish, maintain, or operate an amateur wireless telegraph station without proper authorization.

Categories of Licences

We assist and operate under five licence categories:

  • Advanced Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence

  • Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence, Grade-I

  • Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence, Grade-II

  • Restricted Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence

  • Short Wave Listeners’ Amateur Wireless Telegraph Station Licence

Each licence type specifies permissible frequency bands, power limits, and emission classes for safe and compliant operation.

Non-Interference Commitment

Our HAM Radio operations are conducted in strict compliance with national and international regulations to prevent any interference with:

  • Civil and military wireless services within India.

  • International wireless communications with other nations.
